November 2, 2006: We are working on the first print edition of Get-The DL.com. The first issue cover story will be about overweight teens and how it effects their health and the way they are treated by other students. We are looking for students that can write first person articles or stories on diets, being overweight, losing weight, healthy food, etc. Should schools sell soft drinks and candy in vending machines at the school? Should school districts allow fast food restaurants to run the lunchroom operations? Should school cafeterias only serve healthy food? What it is like being overweight? How I lost ___ pounds in two months (or something like that) How skinny is skinny? How overweight is overweight? With the holidays fast approaching, how do you keep from overeating but still enjoy the food of the holidays? Students can submit their articles or stories to: info@get-thedl.com or by visiting our website and clicking on the information icon. If we publish the students article or story they will receive a $ 10 iTunes gift card. If they give us the name of their teacher, and we publish their article the teacher will receive a $10 gift card to Staples. We want to hear from students and teenagers. Let us know what you think and how you feel about fast food, healthy food, overweight teenagers, etc. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing some interesting articles and stories from your students to be published on the website and in our first print edition. |
